Learning Community & Moderation Policy
1. Purpose
FinT Learning Hub is committed to fostering a respectful, supportive, and professional online learning environment that enhances the ACCA learning experience. This policy outlines the expected standards of behaviour for all community participants and the principles of moderation applied to our digital platforms, including LMS forums, live class chats, social media groups, and any other FinT-managed online spaces.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all students, tutors, staff, and invited guests participating in FinT’s online learning community. It covers all forms of digital interaction facilitated by FinT Learning Hub.
3. Our Online Learning Community Values
Collaboration over competition – We encourage peer support and shared learning.
Respect and professionalism – All communication should reflect the integrity expected of future finance professionals.
Confidentiality – Respect the privacy of others and do not share personal or course materials outside authorised channels.
Constructive contribution – Aim to add value, ask thoughtful questions, and help clarify concepts.
4. Expected Standards of Behaviour
All community members are expected to:
4.1 Communication
Use clear, respectful, and inclusive language.
Avoid offensive, discriminatory, harassing, or defamatory comments.
Respect differing opinions and engage in constructive debate.
Use appropriate channels for different types of communication (e.g., academic queries in class forums, administrative queries via support tickets).
4.2 Academic Integrity
Do not post or request full assignment solutions, exam answers, or copyrighted materials.
Collaborate ethically – discuss concepts, not answers.
Cite sources where appropriate when sharing external materials.
4.3 Privacy & Safety
Do not share personal contact details, passwords, or private information publicly.
Report any suspicious behaviour or content to moderators immediately.
Do not record or redistribute live sessions without explicit permission.
4.4 Professionalism
Remember that you are part of a professional learning network – your digital footprint matters.
Dress appropriately for live video sessions.
Maintain a distraction-free environment during interactive sessions where possible.
5. Moderation Principles
5.1 Who Moderates?
Moderation is overseen by:
Community Moderators: Appointed tutors and student support staff.
Lead Moderator: The Academic Director or nominated Data Protection Officer.
Automated Tools: Where appropriate, filters may flag inappropriate language or spam.
5.2 Moderation Actions
Moderators may, at their discretion:
Edit or remove posts/comments that violate this policy.
Issue a warning via private message for minor breaches.
Temporarily mute or suspend a user’s posting privileges for repeated or serious violations.
Permanently remove a user from the community for severe misconduct (e.g., harassment, cheating, data theft).
Escalate to senior management or external authorities if necessary (e.g., illegal content, threats).
5.3 Transparency & Appeals
Significant content removal or user restrictions will be communicated with a reason where possible.
Users may appeal a moderation decision by emailing academicdirector@finthub.co.uk within 7 days.
6. Platform-Specific Guidelines
To ensure a seamless learning experience, you are responsible for ensuring your equipment meets the following requirements before enrollment:
- Internet Speed: A stable internet connection with a minimum speed of 10 Mbps is required to stream live and recorded lectures without interruption.
- Supported Browsers: Our platform performs best on the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.
- Software: You will need access to Microsoft Excel and a PDF reader to view and complete certain course materials and homework assignments.
6.1 Forums & Chat
Use subject-specific threads for academic discussions, usimg the Tutor recommended mode
Tutors will aim to respond to the queries within 48 working hours.
Off-topic conversations may be moved or archived.
6.2 Live Online Classes
Keep microphones muted when not speaking.
Recordings are for personal revision only unless stated otherwise.
6.3 Social Media Groups (e.g., Viber, Facebook)
Unofficial student-led groups are not governed by this policy but are encouraged to adopt similar standards.
FinT staff will only participate in official FinT-managed groups.
Sharing of copyrighted FinT materials in unofficial groups is prohibited.

7. Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness behaviour that breaches this policy:
Do not engage in public confrontation.
Use the ‘Report’ button if available.
Alternatively, email a screenshot and details to moderation@finthub.co.uk.
All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly.
8. Consequences of Breach
Violations of this policy may result in:
Formal warning.
Removal of posts or access to community features.
Disciplinary action under the Student Code of Conduct.
In severe cases, termination of enrolment without refund.
9. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed annually and may be updated to reflect changes in technology, law, or best practice. Students will be notified of significant changes via their FinT email.
